Position Overview
The ideal candidate is a senior financial leader with a Post-Secondary degree (MBA, CFA, CPA, etc. or equivalent employment experience), bringing a depth of experience, communication and highly developed leadership skills. The Controller will be working in a highly dynamic environment with a team of motivated individuals and departments who appreciate wearing multiple hats and working diligently towards a common goal. We are looking for a professional who thrives in a high-paced work environment, while delivering high quality work in a timely manner, in addition to accounting and finance-related tasks. We are looking for a self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and tenacious individual to join our team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with multiple teams and departments and is expected to have a team-oriented approach while working alongside sales, business development, product, technology and design teams to grow the business.

Responsibilities and Duties
• Will undertake all aspects of financial management including management and financial reporting, budgeting, forecast preparation, and the maintenance and development of internal control policies, procedures and processes
• Prepare annual financial business plans and targets, operating and capital budgets and forecasts
• Ensure the account reconciliations, G/L management, monthly accruals, A/R, A/P and related functions, internal expense reporting, fixed asset management, tax filings and corporate tax installments are completed accurately and on time
• Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (to include P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecasts) and management reporting and analysis to support Executive decision making. Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
• Tax planning, and ensure compliance with Corporate Tax, HST and other government reconciliations and remittances
• Analyze key variances and monitor progress of action plans to improve results and strategically operate the business
• Manage cash flow and capital spending
• Seek out continuous improvement in our financial processes and implement best practices and procedures
• Take a leadership role in managing, coaching, supervising and training a team of junior accountants and finance team members, and work with team members on additional duties and assigned projects in collaboration with Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Product, and Technology teams
• Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed by all staff and that all transactions are correctly reflected in the accounts
• Assist with preparation for year-end work with independent accounting firm, included but not limited to preparing year-end schedules to facilitate Review engagement and addressing queries from the accountants
• Liaise (key contact), deal with financial institutions and compliance with their requirements
• Manage project quoting and job costing against the identified project cost and identify strategies to ensure that costs are optimized and efficient and assist with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial data gathering on business development/sales projects
• Be responsible for the management of treasury functions including cash management, foreign exchange, debt/funding requirements, banking system operations, and payments
• Analyze and report financials and operating metrics for all departments and circulate weekly financial/operational performance Dashboard
• Be responsible for semi-monthly payroll
• Become well-versed in all IT requirements associated with required controls
• Produce management reports on request

Qualifications and Skills
• University degree in Accounting/Finance. Business Management training through education or equivalent employment experience is preferred; CPA in good standing
• Minimum 10 years accounting experience
• Minimum 5 years management or supervisory experience in a related and progressive Finance/Accounting Role
• Competence and experience in the duties and responsibilities described above
• Solid knowledge and understanding of full cycle accounting, financial statements, budgeting/forecasting, year-end functions
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, Canadian tax, and experience preparing and filing corporate tax returns
• Proficiency in Sage 300, Simply Accounting and Accpcc
• Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoints
• Excellent judgement, problem solving skills
