Farm Labourer - Algoma Orchards

Algoma Orchards Corp. is the largest grower and packer of apples in Canada and plays a critical role in maintaining a reliable supply of fresh apples to grocery retailers across the country. We farm over 1,700 acres of high-density orchard, with approximately 20 varieties of apples and pack more than 100 million pounds of fruit annually at our 250,000 square foot facility.

Duties:
- Monitor trees and crops to ensure healthy growth
- May operate tractors and other agricultural machinery equipment to fertilize, cultivate orchards, when required.
- Hand-harvest apples while ensuring fruit is picked at optimum colour and maturity for market.
- Maintain orchard grounds and surrounding areas
- Sort, pack and press apples, while maintaining required quality standards
- Assist with maintaining the pack house facility to ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety and operations
- Follow workplace procedures and instructions carefully
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Contract: 2 year term

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Working Conditions:
- Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including wet, dry, cold and hot weather conditions
- Work at heights when required
- Fast-paced work environment and ability to work under pressure
- Physically active and repetitive tasks
- Long periods of standing and walking
- Repetitive bending, stretching, kneeling and crouching.
- Rural work location with limited public transportation

Qualification and Skills:
- No education required.
- Previous farming or agricultural experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of apple varieties is an asset
- Good physical fitness and stamina
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods
- Ability to follow instructions carefully
- Effective communication skills
- Adaptable, organized and dependable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
