Tile Setters

Solid Wood Home Services is a premier residential renovation firm operating throughout the Lower Mainland. We don’t do "standard" builds. We specialize in transformations where the margin for error is zero, corners are always 90 degree and the lines are flat.
We are seeking an experienced tile setters who is skilled in grain matching, dead-flat surfaces, mosaic laying and epoxy grout lines. This role is for a specialist in bathrooms, grand foyers, and kitchens. This position is rigorous; we are looking for the top installers who can handle premium materials where a single mistake is costly.

Job Type: Full-time 3 year contract
Rate: $35.00 – $38.00 per hour (Negotiated based on portfolio & skill)

Compensation
• Hourly Rate: $35.00 – $38.00 per hour
• Hours: 40 hours per week.
• Overtime: Paid according to BC labor laws.
• Vacation: 4%.
• Environment: Work at various locations within the Lower Mainland.
Key Responsibilities:
• Precision Layout: Execute complex patterns (herringbone, chevron, Versailles) with perfect symmetry and zero lippage.
• Watertight Integrity: Full preparation of surfaces using advanced waterproofing systems to ensure lifetime durability.
• High-End Material Handling: Expert installation of large format porcelain slabs, natural stone (marble, travertine), quartz and intricate mosaics.
• Fine Finishing: Hand-mitring edges for "waterfall" effects and seamless shower niches—we do not use plastic trim.
• Integrated Carpentry: Perform structural adjustments, subfloor preparation, and finish carpentry tasks related to the installation area.
Qualifications
1. Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience in tile setting.
2. Waterproofing Mastery: Deep, technical knowledge of Schluter-Kerdi, Wedi, or liquid-applied membranes. You must understand vapor management and flood testing protocols.
3. Basic Carpentry Skills: Proficiency in framing adjustments, installing subfloors, tile backing boards, and fitting baseboards or trim to ensure seamless transitions.
4. The "Eye": Ability to read architectural blueprints and identify layout conflicts before the first bag of thin set is opened.
5. Professional Grade: You maintain precision tools (wet saws, grinders with polishing pads, and leveling systems) and treat high-value residential job sites with the utmost respect.
