Role Summary: The position is responsible for assisting the head grower in the management of crop growing operations for Jack’s Organics. This person is also responsible for the proper care of the greenhouse, including the principles and practices of plant cultivation, propagation, and protection. This position includes the task of supervising employees, giving out instructions, overseeing and coaching when necessary.

Duties:
• Identifying the plants and their problems (diseases, pests, and others)
• Determining type and quantity of stock to grow
• Planning, organizing, and/or coordinating activities of workers engaged in propagating, cultivating, and harvesting
• Ordering materials such as fertilizer, garden and other related accessories
• Coordinating biological control department to monitor pest and disease levels
• Supervision of labour, assigning tasks and coaching workers
• Ensuring all SOPs are followed, enforced, and ensuring strict crop hygiene practices are followed and enforced
• Establishing the environmental conditions required to grow crops and design planting and care schedules accordingly
• Maintaining records on crop growth data (weekly crop report, climate report, production, etc.)
• Ensuring compliance with environmental standards and sustainability goals in all agricultural practices

Requirements:
• Completion of a college or university program in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field is required
• 1+ years experience as an Assistant Grower is required
• 3+ years working in the capacity of a Grower is required
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Ability to work flexible hours based on the season (holidays, on-call rotation)
