Education:
Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience:
3 years to less than 5 years

Work setting:
Construction, Various locations

Tasks:
Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles or other masonry units, Estimate materials, labour, tools and equipment, Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing, Construct and install prefabricated masonry units, Build patios, garden walls and other decorative installations, Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages, Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools, Lay radial bricks to build masonry shells of industrial chimneys, Restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures, Mix mortar or grout and spread it onto a slab or foundation, Clean and polish surfaces with hand or power tools, Lay out patterns or foundations using a straightedge, Break or cut bricks, stones, or blocks to their appropriate size, Lay or install firebricks to line industrial chimneys and smokestacks

Own tools/equipment:
Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat, Safety glasses/goggles, Gloves, Ear plugs
