Assistant Chef

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the preparation of all menu items and daily specials
• Prepare food items consistently and in compliance with recipes, portioning, cooking and waste control guidelines
• Verify proper portion sizes and consistently attain high food quality standards
• Work closely with the executive chef in all preparation and decoration endeavours
• Assist the executive chef in managing kitchen operations, workflow and restaurant activities
• Monitor training and development of new kitchen staff
• Ensure proper stocking of food items and fills all necessary paperwork as needed

Requirements:
• 3+ years experience working in a kitchen environment for Japanese cuisine
• Cook’s trade certificate or equivalent training or experience
• Is physically capable of lifting and carrying heavy items and standing for long periods
• Able to work under pressure, produce results, handle numerous tasks at once
• Excellent communication skills
• Team player, able to work in close conditions with several other people
• Possess an interest for food preparation and working in customer service
• Knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations

Working Condition:
• Work activities will require evening and weekend
