Fassil Ethiopian Restaurant is a small family-owned Ethiopian restaurant specializing in traditional and authentic flavours of Ethiopian cuisine. As we grow, we are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team in a leadership role, supporting the restaurant owner in managing both front and back of the house operations. The candidate needs to have deep knowledge of Ethiopian cuisine, flavours, spices and skills to prepare our authentic and traditional Ethiopian dishes, as well as assisting the restaurant owner and Main cook in the preparation of the dishes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the restaurant owner in managing the restaurant's daily operations, ensuring a smooth workflow in both the kitchen (BOH) and dining area (FOH).
- Overseeing the kitchen while continuing to cook Ethiopian dishes, ensuring consistent food quality and presentation.
- Support the Owner and Main cook in preparing and overseeing the preparation of traditional Ethiopian dishes.
- Handling daily operational tasks such as managing inventory and monitoring sales performance.
- Assisting the restaurant owner with financial responsibilities, including cost control and budgeting.
- Working to uphold the restaurant’s reputation for excellent food and customer service, helping to attract and retain customers.
- Handling customer inquiries and providing recommendations based on your deep knowledge of Ethiopian cuisine.
- Resolving customer service issues with professionalism, ensuring a positive dining experience for all guests.
- Managing table arrangements and reservations to maximize space utilization while providing excellent service.
- Managing inventory and ordering supplies for the kitchen, ensuring that essential ingredients were always available.
- Assisting with food safety checks, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and adhering to health regulations.
- Collaborating with the Main cook to streamline kitchen processes and minimize waste.
QUALIFICATION
- High school diploma or vocational food preparation certificate
- At least 3 (three) years of experience in the food service sector with extensive knowledge of Ethiopian cooking methods.
- Professional work experience with Ethiopian cuisine.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
