JOB TITLE
Head Baker

REPORTS TO
Executive Chef, The Chase

RESPONSIBILITIES
• With the Culinary team, create an environment that is genuine, humble, welcoming and filled with positivity for guests and employees.
• Communication with Management to plan daily production needs, schedules, and important shift information.
• Consistently maintain The Chase’s standards and show courtesy and respect to everyone at all times.
• Lead and oversee the operation of the bakery team.
• Provide training and supervise the bakery team, demonstrate leadership and foster teamwork.
• Develop and test recipes for new products that are seasonal and contemporary.
• Ensure production of all bakery items in a consistent, precise and efficient manner.
• Create mouth-watering pastries that elicit a wow factor from our customers.
• Mix and bake ingredients to produce treats, fancy cakes and delicious breads.
• Measuring and mixing ingredients into dough according to recipes.
• Monitor stocks for baking ingredients and make appropriate orders within budget.
• Oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods in the context of serving them at the restaurant and offsite catering.
• Check the quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used.
• Communicates with Team Members and other managers/chefs to plan and set expectations for the shift.
• Assist the management in hiring baking and kitchen staff.
• Manage staffing schedules, workloads, and task assignments to ensure smooth operation.
• Ability to properly manage your time and delegate tasks to kitchen staff.
• Remain current with food safety standards.
• Full knowledge of hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen.
• Promote and maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.

REQUIREMENTS
● 3+ years’ experience
● Completion of baking program or equivalent experience
● Thrive in a collaborative environment
● Strong leadership and team management abilities.
● A proactive team player that embodies our spirit of entrepreneurship and mutual respect
● Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
● Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
● Ability to lead and motivate others, and build a diverse and effective team
● Results-oriented and impeccably organized
● Be physically capable of lifting (25 kg) and carrying heavy items and standing for long periods of time
● Excellent hand-eye co-ordination
● Must be familiar with the use of commercial mixing machines, ovens, and other large-scale baking equipment
● Have extensive knowledge on baking temperatures and general food safety regulations.

Position Type:
Permanent, Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Salary $65,000.00 per year
