Experience
3 years to less than 5 years
Completion of a four-year truck and transport mechanic or truck-trailer repair apprenticeship or a combination of over four years of work experience and industry courses in truck or heavy duty equipment mechanics is required to be eligible for trade certification.
Trade certification for truck and transport mechanics is compulsory in Ontario.
On site
Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Responsibilities/Tasks
Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
Inspect mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
Inspect motor in operation
Test automotive systems and components
Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems
Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems
Repair or replace mechanical units or components
Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications
Estimate parts and labour cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
Perform scheduled maintenance service
Test and adjust units to specifications
Complete reports to record problems and work performed
Coach and instruct apprentices
