Salary: $28.85 Hourly, Overtime rate $43.27 per/hour after 60.00 Hours per/week, Other Benefits: 4% vacation pay

Education: Completion of Secondary School required.

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.):

Driver's Licence (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement required.

Experience: Heavy duty driving experience is an asset, but not required.

Languages: Functional English is required and ability to understand road signs.

Main Duties:
• Operate and drive primarily tractor-trailor, long-combination vehicle and straight-body trucks weighing over 4500 kg to transport goods and materials over long distances
• Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals, brakes and cold storage
• Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain log books
• Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers
• May perform emergency roadside repairs
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy

Type of Trucking and Equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg or 10,000lbs with 3 axles), Tractor-trailer, Flatbed, Refrigerated, Highway.

Type of Travel: This position is for Long-haul heavy truck driving, routes vary considerably; routes include travel through the Province of British Columbia, all across Canada, (BC, AB, ONT, USA). Travel may also be through other areas in Canada and the United States. Travel through various towns, cities, and districts in Canada and the United States.

Documentation Skills: Applicants must be willing to learn how to review, input data into, and understand the following documents; driver logbook, bill of lading, inspection report, pre-trip/en-route/post-trip, trans-border documentation, maintenance/repair reports, & trip reports.

Communication Equipment: Applicants must be willing to learn how to use the following equipment. Citizens band (CB) radio, Cellular phone, Satellite tracking (GPS) equipment

Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs.)

Security and Safety: Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract), Medical exam, Drug test

Job Location: 9900 River Road, Delta, British Columbia, V4G 1B4

Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel all across Canada and the United States. Willing to travel by day/evening/night including travel on overnight routes, willing to travel for extended periods of time.

Other: Candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada and must be willing to drive long haul trucks as a two-person team. Functional English is required to understand road signs and fill log book.
