Tasks:
• Assist in interviewing clients, witnesses and other related parties
• Draft contracts, prepare promissory notes and draw up wills, mortgages and other legal documents
• Administer oaths and take affidavits and depositions
• Advise clients on landlord and tenant matters, traffic violations, name changes and other issues within their jurisdictions
• Prepare drafts for wills, real estate transactions and other legal documents, court reports and affidavits
• Research records, court files and other legal documents
• Witness and certify the validity of signatures on documents
• Draft legal correspondence and perform general office and clerical duties,
• Manage daily appointments and open files for notary public
• Preparing Affidavits and Statutory Declarations
• Handle routine correspondence and documentation for the client files;
• Answer telephone calls
• Assist with obtaining all relevant documents from the parties
• Assist with preparation forms, applications, document lists, timelines, and other documents for legal processes
• Maintain records for accounting and client docs
• Prepare and key in correspondence and legal documents, such as deeds, wills, affidavits and briefs, from handwritten copy, shorthand and machine dictation using computers
• Review and proofread documents and correspondence to ensure compliance with legal procedures and grammatical usage
• Set up and maintain filing systems, utilizing knowledge of legal records and procedures and frequently controlling confidential materials and documents
• Open and distribute regular and electronic incoming mail and other material and co-ordinate the flow of information internally and with other organizations
• Determine and establish office procedures and routines
• May supervise and train other staff in processes and the use of current software
• Perform general office and clerical duties
